Peter is the best MATH1210 teacher by far, surpassing his peers in terms of accessibility and teaching ability. He is super willing to work with students and help them succeed, opening up extra office hours for weeks of exams, giving lots of extra credit opportunities on written homework etc.
One thing that is a bit annoying is his pickiness with notation, but I assume that this has to do with the Mathematics department and he's preparing us for their exams (he doesn't make them, the department does). From firsthand experience and testaments from friends who have other calculus teachers, Peter is the best.
Overall, this course is super easy if you're familiar with calculus in any way. There is no trigonometric function integration or differentiation which increases the ease of this course. With Peter, you will do well if you put in the effort on Webassign and do the homework thoroughly.
Peter is a decent teacher and a nice guy, but the math department at UVA is terrible. The tests (which are most of your grade) are created by a coordinator rather than your professor so it is not always representative of what you learned in class. If you have to take this class, I would recommend taking it with Peter, he is really receptive and will work with you if you need extra practice.
