The absolute WORST class I have ever taken in my life. If you are planning to take this class with Morgan, RUN. He does not speak English well, is horribly disorganized, and doesn't help when help is needed. Office hours were a pointless waste of time. My worst grade my first semester because I was completely lost. He made his "own" website for homework that was frustrating and did not work. I repeat, if you sign up for Morgan, drop, withdraw, or run. DON'T TAKE.
Morgan is such a sweet guy. The math department made this a harder class than it needed to be but Morgan constantly held office hours and review sessions that he didn't have to. He really cares about his students and tries to help you learn in the best way possible. Class may seem slow but he really explains the concepts well.
Pros:
- flexible with office hours, tries to put in an effort in helping us learn the material with extra review sessions
Cons:
- Does not explain the material well; often loses his train of thought and teaches us often how NOT to do something rather than how to do it
- No sense of difficulty; his graded review sheets before the exams were much harder than the actual exams and the practices. They were often too hard to be beneficial
- Disorganized; literally gives us assignments in the middle of an email that would appear to be irrelevant, for example, I once missed an assignment because he assigned it in the middle of an email with the subject line "Office hours for next Tuesday". Also did not email us the review material for the final exam and does not seem to acknowledge that collab exists for a reason.
Verdict:
- Would not recommend at all. Unfortunately all of his efforts into being available don't translate the slightest bit into being a decent teacher. If you are in this class, transfer out.

Alright, here goes. Let me start by saying that Aleksander is a very nice guy and he means well. He's incredibly intelligent, but one of the most socially awkward people you may ever meet. If you did not take calculus in high school I really recommend finding another professor. If you have not experienced Calc before he will confuse you and you will be lost. His reviews are much, much more difficult than the actual exams. Anything the Calc coordinators give you, make sure you take advantage of it. Webassign is a pain but it's an easy 10% of the grade and Aleksander integrates his own web assignment from a website he created (like I said, brilliant) but if you don't know Calc your best bet is will another guy in my humble opinion. MATH and STAT are not too great at UVA in general.
Really caring and nice guy, but very difficult to understand. If you have taken calculus in high school you will be okay, but sometimes his teaching differs from AP Calc in High school. If you have never taken calc, I suggest another professor. You really get to bond with your classmates over how weird the class is. As a student who got a 5 on the BC Calc exam, I still find this class difficult. Also, his worksheets before exams are MUCH more difficult than the exam.
This course really depends on the TA you get, as they teach the course and there is no professor. Morgan was very willing to help, but sometimes struggled to communicate his knowledge in to students. This next piece of info is more about the course in general and not specific to Morgan, but I would not reccomend taking this course without having previously taken calculus before. The pace is incredibly fast and not much instruction is given on the basics, so if you fall into this category, take applied calc with algebra.
Professor Morgan was an absolute beast. Lectures are fairly easy to follow and he explains the material very well. If you have any troubles at all, he has regular office hours and if you cannot make the scheduled office hours, he is happy to meet your schedule so you get he help you need. He wants his students to do well and bumped me from an A- to an A at the end of the semester. Great man and a great teacher. If you are taking MATH 1210 I recommend you take if with Aleksandr!
