Mojdeh was a good instructor for this class who taught the material clearly in a way that was pretty easy to understand. This class is definitely one of the easiest math classes you can take at UVA, and one of the most applicable too. Although the curriculum varies by semester, the class covered lots of basic financial topics that are very applicable in daily life - interest, annuities, mortgages, retirement planning, credit cards, etc. Unlike most of the math classes I had taken in high school, I actually felt like I was getting something out of this class that I could use and apply in the future - not just learning math for the sake of completing credits. Calculators were needed for all aspects of the class, which was welcoming given calculator rules in other math classes at UVA.
Assignments consisted of biweekly homework assignments and quizzes (alternating weeks), neither of which were too challenging. Group work was encouraged for the homework assignments and quiz studying. The two midterm exams were not cumulative, but did include a bit of information from previous concepts learned in the class (lots of the material builds on concepts from earlier in the class). The final exam was cumulative and a formula sheet was allowed. #tCFspring2022
