MATH 1140

Professor Nabb was an amazing professor! Everyone in the class was loved him and always had a great time. He explained the material very clearly and was so engaging. There were three exams and biweekly quizzes. He collected homework one Friday and had a quiz the next and so on. He is a professor at the community college, so he explained the material clearly and slowly and wasn't too full of himself to help us like some tenured UVA professors are. I highly recommend taking this class as your math requirement. I found it to be very easy and useful in the real world (we learned about stocks/bonds, mortgages, credit card payments, investing).

Nabb is a dawg. Great guy, pretty solid teacher. The course itself is pretty easy, but nabb definitely helps clear up any confusion. You don't need much background in math as it is all pretty simple equations, but if you have taken Calc 1 or 2 you will find it incredibly easy. There were hws every other week and quizzes on the opposite weeks. Neither were very difficult or time consuming. He uses the book, but it's mostly for the hw problems. I'd recommend going to class but if you miss he teaches more or less out the book so it's fine to make up but his lectures are definitely better than learning from the book. I found the exams to be pretty easy as you are provided with the equations, so as long as you know what's going on its a bit of plug and play. I didn't feel like I learned that much about financial stuff as it was more math and less concepts (more or less), but nonetheless a great course.

Nabb was an amazing professor and a very chill/ nice guy (he even brought us pies on national pie day. He really cares that you're doing well in the course so always ask questions if you have them because he'll genuinely take the time to go back through and explain it to you (doesn't make you feel dumb for asking). Exams were easy if you did the homework and did some studying, but hours on end is not necessary. As a psyc major, I found this class to be pretty easy and highly enjoyable. Everything we learned was relevant to our lives and i feel like this is one of the first classes i've ever taken that has prepared me for life after school. Overall, super interesting, low-stress, easy A course with a great prof.
