Professor Choi is the best professor that I have had! She was super nice to everyone especially since we were all beginners in Korean. She's super approachable, and you can talk to her about anything. I really loved the class, which made me want to take it even more even though I already completed my foreign language credit. Sometimes the homeworks can be a lot (especially in the beginning), but having friends in the class really help. I really do recommend her class, since it's pretty easy if you work for it.
Professor Choi is the sweetest professor at UVa. I came into the class with hardly any knowledge of Korean, and I was so pleased with how much I accomplished in one semester. Professor Choi gives clear lectures, and always answered any questions thoroughly during class. In addition, she is super approachable, responds to e-mails quickly (usually within an hour), and truly cares about her students. She always bought my class food or brought in snacks. She is the reason why I decided to continue taking Korean at UVa!
The workload is not bad for the class. The majority of your grade comes from vocabulary quizzes, workbook pages, and lesson tests. You also have a final exam (a longer version of the lesson exams) and presentation (which is not hard). If you study for a half hour - hour for vocab quizzes, and spend the same amount of time doing your workbook, you will get 10/10 on them. For the lesson tests, just study the vocab and the workbook pages you completed (as well as the notes on the study guide Professor Choi gives you) and you will do well.
