Kim seonsaengnim is the best! Such a personable, genuine, and understanding professor with extensive experience in teaching Korean. The workload is consistent -- three worksheet sets and two vocab quizzes per chapter, an exam every two chapters, and a final project of some sort -- but I found most of it to be very easy and I usually did my Korean homework while watching Netflix. This class was my chill class for the semester I took it and I had a lot of fun! The E-portfolio (an experimental project she started Fall 2014) is pretty tedious, though she is working to improve it.
Content-wise, a pretty easy class- the script is easy to learn, quite a few English words, the grammar isn't too bad as long as you practice. But you have to devote at least 4-5 hours on homework per week if you want to do well on it since it's a big percentage of your grade. Kim seonsaengnim makes you participate in class but within a week or two you get comfortable with it. If you come in as a k-drama or k-pop fan a lot of vocab should be familiar to you, but work hard learning and practicing the grammar.
