Third year is supposed to be hard and this class is really hard. Marta is a tough professor that expects a lot out of you, and I mean a lot. The first month is the worst due to hard prompts that are slightly unclear. However these assignments become the basis for your project and are present on the final board, so it is worth trying on them. Marta loves working in 2D and tons of model making, which is not for everyone, but it is worth it to try. She loves detailed plans and sections. A good Rhino model will always be useful for later drawings, but during the middle of the semester, she just wants plans and sections. It is kind of up to you when you want to make a good Rhino model. Marta also loves simple collages rather than renderings. Her desk crits are timely and effective. She is a good guide and pushes you in the right direction with certain precedents, but wants you to make the decisions. There are lots of internal reviews, which help build your presentation skills and you begin to convince yourself your project means something. The work is actually structured well so that by the time the last week or two come, you have a good board already. The last weeks are still rough, but I felt much more prepared than other sections and my board had a lot more work on it. After the grueling semester you really do fell accomplished because the work you did is comprehensive and high quality, so there is a light at the end of the tunnel. This class is the epitome of an architecture studio, where you work really hard and question why you did architecture, but at the end you feel great and you learn a lot. #tCFF23
