Good Class. Julian Bond is not as strong a lecturer as one would think considering he was such an outstanding civil rights activist

Interesting material and it's cool to have taken a course taught by president of the NAACP and someone who was actually involved in the Civil Rights Movement but the lectures were not very engaging and overall I would not recommend the class, doesn't really matter though b/c it's only being taught once more.

I really enjoyed the class and although Professor Bond's lectures can be somewhat hard to follow at times, the material is interesting and his knowledge is immense.

Good course. No need to really take notes in lecture...it is basically supplementary to the book.

It is a great class, with a GREAT professor. Yes, there is a significant amount of reading, but you have 2 papers, a final, and discussion section - that is it! So TAKE THE CHALLENGE, EXPAND YOUR MIND, AND MEET ONE OF PROFOUND LEADERS FROM THE CIVIL RIGHTS ERA :-D...Its worth your time! :-)

Professor Bond reads directly off of his notes for the most part, but when he throws in personal experiences it's really interesting. If you get a good TA to reinforce material, you should be fine.

Class is very boring. Bond reads all his lectures word for word.

It's a pretty interesting class, especially if you have an interest in American History. Professor Bond is an excellent speaker, but his lectures are read word for word, which can be dull. There is an extensive amount of reading, all of which is not necessary. The class isn't actually that hard, only two papers, a final, and discussion participation. If you have a good TA it should be fine.

While the lectures are quite long, the course material is very interesting. Discussions were fun and exciting. Requires two short research papers (5-7 pages) and a final exam.
