My biggest complaint about this class was the textbook. I found it hard to read, but Edelson picked it for its extensive use of geography to explain history (maps are his specialty). I love Professor Edelson! He always came to class very prepared and energized, so even when content was a little dry, you still wanted to listen to him. The exams were spelled out very clearly through study guides (Edelson would give a list of ~50 terms and say 6 will be on the exam, so there was no need to just blindly study the whole textbook). There are also two 6-8 page papers which were graded nicely, and Edelson is so approachable about papers. He even offered to read an entire draft and write comments days before I submitted, and I have never had a professor willing to take that time to help a student not only for grade purposes, but for general writing skills. I feel like this class actually made be a better writer, and I came out of it with a better understanding of important themes (as well as specific facts and dates) related to the US's founding. Would highly recommend this course! Doable, but so worthwhile!
