I took this class as a gen ed, not relating to my major at all, and I enjoyed the professor. She was very nice and understanding towards any situation and was passionate about the topic. The class overall was pretty easy with an average amount of readings that isn't too overbearing (coming from someone who hates readings). You have to write a paper at some point, and the final was kind of a lot of work but was open note. I think I ended with a B or so.
Dr. King is an exceptional professor and is extremely well-versed and educated on WGS and current events. She is very involved in organizing with members of the larger community, as well as bringing promiment speakers and events to Grounds. The class itself is heavily discussion-based and reading-based. Each class is usually structured similarly: class begins with object presentations from 2 students (an assignment that runs through the semester), then discussion of the assigned readings alongside lecture. The major assignment of the class is a cumulative paper discussing the transnational movement of an object, or alternatively examining oneself as a transnational object. Dr. King is very helpful in choosing topics and figuring out the best way to go about writing this paper. She is readily available during office hours and during class, and is highly flexible in terms of assignments and absences. The final exam was also created in groups and was open-book.

This was my first Women and Gender Studies class and I really enjoyed it. This class was mostly based on attendance with a few assignments throughout the semester. There were readings for each class, but you did not need to take in-depth notes or spend too much time on them. Throughout the semester you had to create one presentation about a topic within Transational Feminism of you choice, write at least one essay, complete some group work mostly during class, and take an exam that was open note and at home. I enjoyed the class and learned so much about transnational feminism as I did not have much knowledge about it before. The class was very educational, but low stakes, so it was not too stressful. Also, everyone was respectful of every topic and Dr. King does a great job at making sure everyone feels respected and heard, even during difficult discussions. #tCFS24
