This class involves a lot of hands-on experience with conducting social psychology research. If you like research, you will like this class, and if you hate research, you will hate this class. I personally love research so I really enjoyed this class and thought it was easy, but I know several people who only took the course for RM credit and didn't like the class and thought it was hard. You're put in a group of five people and you work with a grad student on a non-experimental study and an experimental study. You design a survey, collect data, and write about your research in a format similar to a published study. After you complete each study, you and your group present to the class about it (5-10 minute long presentation). There are other small assignments, like a reflection post after every class, surveys/reflections on how the class is going, and some reading assignments at the start of the semester. The first few weeks are lecture heavy as you review material from previous psych classes. The lectures can be boring if you already know the material, but the majority of the class is group work. The class is 2 and a half hours long, but we got a break in the middle of class and most days we ended an hour early.
Jazi is awesome! She really cares about the course content and her students (she learned all of our names by the second class), gave lots of feedback on drafts of our studies, brought us food sometimes, and was overall super sweet and supportive.
If you just need an RM class for the psych major and don't care about research, there are other easier RM classes. If you want to learn more about research or are planning to go to grad school, this is a great class! #tCFfall22
