This is a solid class, definitely better than Behavioral Science with Dobson. It felt more applied and connected to the real world and policy, but still felt very fluffy at points. That's more of a critique of Batten's social psych-based classes more broadly: they feel like common sense. That said, Prof. Trawalter is super kind and constantly looking to improve. The class is largely lecture-based but also included 4 peer-to-peer conversations which were great, in addition to a smattering of in-class activities. There's a midterm and a final but you get a front-and-back cheat sheet for both which makes them pretty easy. There's ample group work, including a "nudge" project where you design a reform for Batten. That was a pretty cool assignment as some of the projects actually get sent over to Batten Student Engagement, etc.
Prof. Trawalter often seemed somewhat stressed, but I have a feeling that that will be better in coming semesters as she is currently dealing with a tough situation re: her parents and their health. Anyways, this class didn't blow me away but didn't feel like a total waste of time (though the readings weren't rly necessary until studying for the tests lol).
