Ok so, the content was interesting and seemed relevant to CS. I understood most of it.
the HWs are hit or miss. Some HWs don't take that long, others can take many hours and help from TAs to understand and implement, as well as fix any exceptions or bugs.
Stone is really good at explaining the code and he live codes in class, but you could skip the lecture if you wanted and/or go to Morrison's lectures and/or watch either professor's videos.
The quizzes are... disastrous. the online take home quizzes aren't that bad, although there were some interesting requirements. The in person quizzes are... just nearly impossible. I know that my numerical average on the in person quizzes (even after the retakes) is lower than my rating of my knowledge of DSA. I'm not saying I'm really good at it, but the quizzes are just impossible. Other than that, the class is fine.
Do not take this course unless you have no other choice.
This course is so poorly structured and is very time-consuming with very little to show for the work and time sunk into it. Grades over 100% are possible on the homework, which you get extra credit for submitting early. Labs are also easy to get 100% on. The quizzes, however, are worth too much of your grade for how impossible they are. I have a good amount of prior coding experience and studied the slides (as you're told the quizzes are only on material from the slides) and resources elsewhere. The quizzes were impossible, the knowledge expected not having been taught, and the questions being rather tangential. You can do perfectly on the homework and labs, but the quizzes will sink you. The TA's are swamped and underinformed, the professors are helpful when you can be in person for their office hours, but only when it comes to the homework and labs.
