Crosby is very professional and knowledgeable, but the class is not for everyone. There is no chronology, it's basically a study of a series of primary sources. Crosby wanders a bit but the information is all interesting and can be very helpful to a person interested in the High Middle Ages.

The professor's pretty funny and I enjoyed going to class every day. It's also not a huge work load but you get to read a decent amount of origional source stuff. The final paper (12-15) and the final exam were the only requirements we had as well as about an hours worth of reading a week.

The course itself requires attendance and only a few readings. However, Mr. Crosby is an exceptionally unfair grader and refuses to give "A"s in his course. I strongly discourage anyone from taking his courses.
