The class is easy, go to lecture and you will do fine. Only 4 essays only 3 pages a piece and a midterm and final.

Professor Rowe's lectures are not hard to follow, but they are not very interesting (although the subject matter is not the most interesting in the first place). Unnecessarily strict grading on papers and tests for an introductory class. And do not sign up for a discussion section with Rosie!

Rowe is very knowledgeable and a good lecturer, but the subject matter is kind of boring. I agree that the grading is unnecessarily strict for an intro-level class.

In the beginning they say that the exams are not cumulative, but a week ago they told us that the longer essay on the final is going to include material from before the midterm. And you if you want a good grade you have to know how to analytical, because you won't get an A on the papers otherwise.

I took this class because I got a really good SAT II score on World History, and figured since it was a survey class for first years, it'd be a cakewalk. I'd say I only went to 66% of lectures since there were Fridays lectures at 9, and even to some still drunk and took notes easily. The lecture isn't the bad part- it's the discussion that is taken way to seriously. The papers and tests are graded extremely critically for a 201 class, but if you figure out exactly what they want, it's not big deal. And as for TAs, Rosie sucks. Big dicks. Constantly.

Lectures are well organized and exams are not difficult in material. The TA (John Terry) really makes the course for me. He is very lively in discussion and also helpful with papers, though he is a difficult grader.

JT was awesome! He made discussions fun and exciting and encouraged participation. Hard grader though.
