Great class! dimberg is interesting and tells good stories without letting that get in the way of his teaching. He really encourages people to go to office hours. Two identify the significance mid-terms and two papers (4-6 pg. each). Many people take all three classes in his Korean series because he is so great.

Class is somewhat interesting, but Dimberg grades things unfairly. It's hard to do well on the quizzes/exam. He docks lots of points for the smallest, minute errors (including grammatical errors). I got a B- (and I'm a history major with average A- in all other history courses) If you're looking for an easy history/non-western perspectives class to take, AVOID.

Dimberg is great. Too bad he is retiring, the man really knows his stuff and gives one of the most clear and professional lectures around. If you know what he wants you will do well. He really genuinely cares about his students. I am not a history major and I managed an A-.

Unfair grader, old-fashioned, should have retired long time ago. Most boring class ever.
