I took this class because it sounded somewhat interesting, and it was. However, I hated it. The material was generally interesting to learn about, but Professor Igoe made it so boring. Tuesday classes were lecture (very monotonous and unhelpful) and Thursday classes were group discussions. You get your group before the start of class, and you keep it all semester. The discussions weren't terrible, and I did learn from them. Though the prompts sucked. In general, Professor Igoe seemed unorganized and his powerpoints were super hard to follow. The weekly quizzes were super annoying. They were open note and based off of reading so they shouldn't have been as hard as they sometimes were. The questions were ambiguous and difficult, and he graded super precisely. When it came to the midterm and final essays, I had trouble knowing what to write about because his prompts weren't great, and he graded very subjectively. I ended up with a B+ in the class, but I feel as if I deserved an A. I wouldn't recommend this class unless you are very interested in environmental justice.
