*yawn* oh sorry, I'm still recovering from Professor Rodu's lectures. He drones on and on, and gives zero real incentive to show up to class. He doesn't record his lectures, or have slides. He also prefers to teach advanced statistical concepts in a purely theoretical framework, so I feel like I can apply very little to real life, and I LOVE sports analytics. He IS very nice, as a small saving grace.
In terms of grading, there's literally 4 assignments this semester (3 smaller ones, and one bigger project). They're all group work, so find a good group who knows how to code, as that's what you'll be doing for 90% of the questions. They're pretty time-consuming, but since they don't happen that often, this class was an off-on class, where I forgot I was enrolled in it when we didn't have assignments, and when we did, I spent time on it. Also, he doesn't release grades until literally the end of the semester. He made it sound like it's an easy A if you show dedication though.
Do I recommend this class? Kinda? It's good if you have a busy semester, but it's a pretty dull class overall.

This class was literally absurd. I am a third year statistics major and am not a coding whiz or anything but have taken a bunch of stat/coding classes and have done pretty well. I knew ~4-5 friends who signed up to take this class and we all ended up dropping/withdrawing because we struggled so much (so keep in mind this review is just my experience from the first couple weeks of school). But, I would seriously only take this class if you are very VERY comfortable with coding because there was definitely no coding help at all during lecture and the first assignment was very difficult, so I dropped the class because they only got progressively harder as the semester went on. Only take this class if you feel comfortable doing advanced coding on your own
Really enjoyed this class and the way that professor Rodu taught it. He was very flexible with his grading and homework and it really is up to you how much you want to take out of the course. The lectures were fun and engaging and I think his sense of humor really helps as well. The final project was also really cool because he pretty much gives you a dataset and lets you do whatever you want with it. We ended up doing Q-learning which was something that we were interested in at the time and it turned out to be quite the learning experience. I would really recommend this course!
