This class was the second I've taken with Prof. Ma and I gotta say, it was quite interesting. Instead of having weekly problem sets and a couple of tests, this class assumes the nontraditional route of having the students create individual projects (i.e. customized 3-D objects) to showcase at the end of the semester. This does mean that you will have to turn in assignments that constitute a huge proportion of your grade, but if you work hard enough and go above and beyond, you will get a good grade. Unfortunately, because of ((the virus that shall not be named)), we couldn't actually use 3-D printers. To give an idea of exactly what is learned in this class, you'll go over the five steps to 3-D printing, stereolithography files, lattice structures, bioprinting, topology optimization, and the economics of additive manufacturing. I'd recommend this class to all MSE majors/minors, preferably after taking the intro class because this class does review some of the material from MSE 2090. Prof. Ma is an extraordinarily smart guy and although his expectations are can be a bit unclear in my opinion, he's more than willing to help anyone who is struggling.
