This is a difficult class but it's easy to do well in. This is the first philosophy class I've taken so I definitely found it tricky, but the readings are rather interesting and I like the format of the class. The class is 10% participation (mandatory attendance), 20% reading reconstructions, 25% short paper, 45% long paper. Reading reconstructions are graded pass/fail and if you fail one you can rewrite, you just need to have 10 by the end of the semester (although I never failed one). You can rewrite both papers after getting grades back and Professor Adams leaves really helpful comments on your work. The class is set up kinda weird, there's no agenda for each class, people just come in with things they want to talk about and we go from there. I liked this a lot since if there's a reading you didn't enjoy, then you never have to think about it again since you get to choose what to write the papers about. This class is a decent amount of reading, about 25 pages before each class (2 classes/week). This doesn't seem like a lot, and it might not be, but my course load this semester had a ton of other readings so this definitely added up, just be cautious. Overall, Professor Adams is incredibly knowledgeable and I enjoyed the new challenge this class presented!
