Cushman himself is a fantastic professor, one of those teachers who really makes a class interesting and keeps you coming back. He encourages everyone to speak and has a knack for keeping the conversation flowing during class—no awkward silences here! He knows so much about literature in general, and the Bible specifically, and peppers each day with little facts you never would have known. As for the course, you read selected parts of the Bible (not the entire thing), including from the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament, and the Apocrypha. Readings are never too bad. You have to read and take notes because he collects your notes. Entire course grade comes from a 20-page final paper, but he is a generous grader and wants to see you succeed. Cushman is very open for office hours. This was the best class I took the entire semester! #tCF2020
