unless you are Really intereste, do not go to this course.
Lecture will be theorems and proofs. You will not really have any idea where it is going unless you are really smart on math.
Also he do not teach any coding stuff on the lecture, and you have to figure that out by yourself with the assignments.
Please don't go. My every lecture with him is pure struggle
Professor Foldes was super helpful in office hours, and definitely was a good lecturer. The class was super interesting to me (think of it as 'How to use computers to do math'), but the class was also somewhat frustrating to me due to organizational issues. Homeworks were a mix of proofs and coding (implementing various algorithms we were taught in class to solve problems like solving systems of equations or estimating derivatives), and he would release code templates to standardize the output of our submissions - the issue is that he would often not release them until the day before an assignment was due, resulting in a lot of last minute stress. Additionally, he was not a very fast grader - with a month left in the semester, and having submitted 4 homeworks and a midterm, I had received only 1 grade back. This was difficult because it meant I had no feedback on how well I understood the material, or if I needed to get help on anything. Granted, this was during the corona-virus period so it is understandable that there was a lot of transition and I'm sure he was more busy than usual (I know he had children at home that he was now helping to care for), so I would not necessarily say this is typical or to be expected, simply my experience with it.
