This course is essentially studying different kinds of econometric methods. Each class, you read a paper beforehand and discuss how the author used a certain method to get answers to a research question. I actually really enjoyed the class because the papers we read and the topics we learned about were very interesting (Did 16 and Pregnant affect birth rates?, How do small class sizes affect test scores?, Does police presence reduce crime?, and so on). There's a lot of reading in this course, so you might not like it if you're not much of a reader. Brett is really good at teaching the methods in a way that's easy to understand, and he's clearly very knowledgable about what he's teaching. He also really engages the class by asking questions throughout the lecture. There's two exams that aren't too challenging and a paper where you pose your own research question.
