STAT 3110

Chill guy, legit slides and clear lecture. Released review problems before each midterm and homework problems were really helpful for the midterms too. Recommended!

Literally the coolest professor I’ve ever had. He makes the content easy to understand and does a ton to help you out gradewise. Definitely take him for 3110

Literally one of the easiest lecturers for this course. I almost finished with an A+ in this class after only having one prior statistics class that I took in high school like three years ago. This class does have a lot of content towards the end, but Yifan makes it really digestible and easy to understand. My best piece of advice for his class specifically is to GO TO THE EXAM REVIEW CLASS PERIODS. he is REALLY descriptive of what you need to know, and it's honestly so helpful. To review for exams, I just redid a lot of the practice problems we used in class and the homework problems. It was really helpful and I never got lower than an A on any of the exams. There are three midterms and you drop the lowest one. Overall, if you are a statistics major and you are worried about this class, dont worry at all. Take it with Yifan and you'll be set.

Coming into this class, I was looking forward to learn more about statistics, however this class was just very boring and a repeat of STAT 2120 but you solve everything by hand. Yifan Li is a nice guy and applies a generous curve to you final grade (at least 3 points), but he is not a great lecturer. Really hard to pay attention when he turns and talks to the board, skips through important slides and spends more time doing proofs that we are not being tested on rather than going over problems we might see on exams. Be prepared to do your own preparation for exams as you do not do much practice in class. You get a cheat sheet for the exam so that is helpful but you have to know how to apply the statistics. Knowing how to do integrals is crucial for the course, don't really go over them in class but you are expected to do them and show the work. Homework is from the textbook but you don't have to read the textbook as lectures are a carbon copy of the textbook.
