I took this course in Fall 2023 but for some reason it's not an option. I believe this was Professor Somal's (he said we could just call him Sam) first time teaching the course. He was a bit disorganized but he is so kind and caring. He is so open to accommodating and helping students and even paid for a TA out of his own pocket for the course. The content is basically APSTAT concepts using Python, and this course was designed for students with absolutely 0 prior experience so if you do have prior experience this class will be a breeze. There were 12 homework assignments and 10 labs, and everything was on Jupyter Notebook. He let us drop a few assignments at the end of the semester. There were textbook readings to go along with each assignment, but the homework basically guided you through all the content so I took notes on the homework and used my notes to do the labs. There was a midterm and a final exam and on both you were allowed a cheat sheet. The midterm was pretty easy, similar to the practice exam and the lowest grade got dropped so I ended up not having to take the final. Easy course and great instructor!
For someone who has never coded before in their life and is not mathematically gifted, I was very nervous to take this class and only did it because I had to. I was SO worried for this class, however, I ended with an A+. The grades in this class basically come down to your Python assignments, which you're allowed to run as many times as needed until you get a perfect score. Then, you technically have 2 exams but if you do well enough on the first one you don't need to take the final. For the midterm, he gives you 2 practice exams and goes over all the answers during review sessions. If you've never done any coding/stats you will be PERFECTLY fine in this class. Just do all your Python assignments until you get a perfect score so you have lots of padding for exams. He gives you every opportunity under the sun to succeed and records all lectures as well (where he goes over all the Python assignments in case you were stuck). Super easy class if you watch the recorded lectures and do the study guides etc!
