TC is one of the greatest people EVER. Although this class is just one credit for gen-eds, I would recommend you take this class just to branch out with your nursing classmates, and nursing upperclassmen, and just get to know TC. I found this class helpful with understanding more about the nursing school at UVA, and how my future classes will go since there will be opportunities where we'll get to ask nursing upperclassmen questions about anything. Not only is this class helpful, but it's super easy and chill, and since it's on a graded scale, it's an easy GPA booster too.
I absolutely love TC! She never fails to put a smile on my face and is always there for her students. This course definitely made my transition to UVA nursing a lot smoother so I highly recommend taking it in the fall first year. It is not a lot of work at all and nearly everyone gets an A so it’s a great GPA boost.
I took another version of this class (NURS 1559) Fall 2018 and absolutely LOVED it. Any class with TC is bound to be a course to remember, and this class especially is focused on the transition to college from high school and how to maneuver the resources around Grounds. A short reflection is due each week and is simply about how your week was or what new things you've done. There are two "final" essays (I say "final" very lightly)-- one about a book you recommend for future students to read and another about 3 new things you have completed in the semester (e.g. join a new club, go to Lighting of the Lawn) and a group project (e.g. make a scrapbook for future students). Since the semester I took it was the first time the class was introduced, these assignments might change, but nevertheless. this course is an easy A+ and a wonderful transition into the nursing school.
