Watts' Science Fiction and Identity is a terrific way to fulfill the first/second-year ENWR. The course includes some really fun and interesting sci-fi texts, as well as a few TV episodes and graphic novels, that are generally covered in a whole-class discussion. Meanwhile, you go over some feminist and queer theory, which provides a basis of understanding and discussion for the texts. Overall, the workload isn't too bad; an essay/article or a few chapters for class each day, along with a few essays which you peer-review and are graded fairly. There's a final at the end of the class which isn't really worth worrying about as long as you paid attention in class, and there's a participation grade, so attending and raising your hand contributes to your grade. Overall an enjoyable class, and it shouldn't be too difficult for most people with even a little writing experience in high school.
