It's clear that Prof Rush is passionate about what she teaches. The class is small and discussion-based, so if you do not like sitting and talking about poetry I would suggest taking a different course. Homework mainly consists of reading and annotating a few poems before each class that come with occasional, surprise reading quizzes which require you to have paid very close attention to what you read for homework. You have one paper (a rough draft and a final draft) that is about ~2500 words and a final paper that is about ~3000 words, but you do not have a final exam which is great. This was by no means my favorite class (coming from a non-humanities major), but it seems to be a comparatively less painful way to get the 2nd writing requirement out of the way if that is what you are looking to do.
