I cannot reccommend Dr. Cook enough. She is a wonderful teacher and understands that students have dozens of committments outside of her classroom, so she works around that to make sure students can learn without pointless busywork. There are readings (or videos), but they aren't substantial, and they are often spread out enough that you can knock them out in a few hours on a weekend. The assignments are largely student driven. There is a lot of flexibilty in what and how you complete your work. Dr. Cook is looking for effort and understanding of the topic, so as long as you can demonstrate that, you will pass the class with high marks. Although the class is low effort, this is only the base. She really encourages students to continue learning outside of the classroom when they are able, so if you find yourself invested in the subjects, you will spend more time on the course than is technically required.
Take this class!
The instructor is great and very kind. She kind of inputs her political opinions into her lecture, which I find interesting. She is very passionate about the class and honestly wants her students to learn. There are no exams, and all the projects are pretty easy and simple. There is some group work in class, but nothing more than that. A lot of people never came to class after the first week, but I thought it was an interesting class to go to.
