This class is a bit of a mixed bag. The good: Gingerich is highly knowledgable about the subject. The topics being discussed are interesting, and Gingerich can speak on them with authority. The assignments for the class are easy to manage. Two exams (where a list with possible questions is given out ahead of the exam), two short response papers, and one short film review. Prepare for the exams and spend some time on the paper and you'll be fine. The bad: Gingerich is not a great lecturer. Most classes feature him reading straight off of slides, and his style can be quite dry. Since he posts the powerpoints on collab, attendance dropped off sharply as the semester went on. There's a lot of reading assigned for the course (70-80 pages of fairly dense material) but the only time it comes up is when writing the response papers. The class isn't the worst 3000 level politics class to take, but it's nothing remarkable.
