Cora Schenberg is one of the best professors here! I had never taken German before, and the first day I was terrified because she only spoke in German. From the first day on, she basically only speaks German. Each night, there are 1-3 small activities to do from the Student Activities Manual (or textbook). There is an answer key, and you must grade yourself in order to get a check plus on the homework. Class attendance is mandatory, and participation (attendance, quality of participation, homework, essays) is 25%. Tests are straightforward and count for 40%. She does not try to trick you on the tests.Quizzes (no pop quizzes) are 20% and are on vocab. The final is worth 15%, and looks exactly like all the tests. It is again very straight forward. Frau Schenberg really makes German interesting. Also, she is an actual instructor (as opposed to TAs who teach the regular german classes), and when you take this (as long as you pass), you are able to take accelerated 2 with her again. You will then complete your language requirement in only 2 semesters. I would definitely recommend this if you need a language requirement or just love languages. There are some essays, but there aren't many, and they are only 250 words a piece. Reading consists of short dialogues and articles in the textbook. These happen at the end of each chapter.
