German is almost definitely the easiest language at UVA, and I highly recommend it to anyone trying to fulfill their language requirement. Frau Schenberg is always in a good mood and assigns little to no homework, so that's definitely an upside. The tests are also fairly easy if you study for an hour or so (assuming you don't get too behind).
I entered German 1010 never having exposure to the language beforehand and I have to say that it was far more enjoyable than any other language class I had taken beforehand (Spanish in high school). The classes are largely conversation based, giving lots of practice reps for pronunciation and improving one's speaking ability. We would also usually have some type of exercise either listening to a dialogue and answering questions about it or doing problems out of the book. As for Professor Schenberg, I could not more highly recommend taking the class with her. She was very nice, helpful and had a great sense of humor, which is always a plus when going over some of the drier aspects of language like sentence structure and grammar. I couldn't more highly recommend this class is you need to fulfill your language requirement or if you're just interested, really the only thing that is a bit of a bummer is that it meets 5 times a week (though that really helped reinforce everything we learned).
