Spring 2023 - I took this class with my roommates and we were all obsessed with Michael Levenson, we still talk about him to this day. His class was interesting and I learned a lot, the readings are definitely not necessary I spark noted most of them. It is honestly unrealistic to do all of the reading for this class because he assigns whole books over the weekend. Definitely an interesting class but I would say that you have to go to lectures to connect the readings to the class topics in the way that he wants you to. I recommend but definitely not an easy A. (I still got a good grade but thats because I paid attention). The tests were online and at home, including the final. Not too much work besides readings.
Spring 2022 - This was a good class, and I learned a lot. There were four blog posts (250 words) throughout the semester about a topic and a country (I did nationalism in France). Choose a topic that has a lot to work with because you have to write four different posts on it (so don't choose like economics and Nicaragua). DON'T BUY THE BOOKS. I made this mistake, and I only read like two of them. You can read the lit charts, as long as you have a general idea of what the readings are about. A lot of people didn't go to lecture, but I thought they were pretty necessary. Sometimes they were boring, but Professor Levenson gets so excited about the topics. If you want to learn about the world, and take a relatively easy 3000-level class, this is a great option.
