(FALL 2022) DONT DO IT. Worst professor I have had at UVA. Over half of the class failed the exam and her solution to this issue was telling us to study more than 2 hours per class to do better next time. Also despite half of this class being about the normal curve, she didn't curve the test. Over half of the class failing a test truly speaks to the skills of a teacher, not the students. If you want to maintain any sanity, do not take this class. The entire grade is tests and iclicker questions so when you inevitably fail your first test because she's an awful professor you have screwed yourself and your GPA for the rest of the semester.
She can't teach. Her powerpoints complicate the concepts so unnecessarily and jump all over the place and are just messy and difficult to go back and study from. As others have mentioned, literally half the class FAILED the first test and she said it's because we didn't study enough (despite everyone I know studying for WAY longer than she suggested, myself included). No amount of office hours would've changed the fact that her test was so overly specific. You basically have to teach yourself all the material. If you can help it DON'T take this class
(Fall 2022) As many others have said. She is not a good professor. The average score on our first exam was a 50% and when people confronted her in class, she evaded all of these questions. Her responses were painful to hear. She suggested we write our OWN practice problems when a student asked for more practice. She also told us to speak with the students who had gotten As on the exam (of course, we don't know who they are, and it shouldn't be their responsibility). Her response to every other question was to go to office hours. This is a class of 250 students. The only TA in the class, who did half of the grading does not attend lecture. I took this class to check off my math requirement. But many are here because they want to major or minor in psych. If you can help it, avoid this class. Or at least this professor.
This is a horrible idea. I know this class is required for psychology so please do not take this with Chandra. She is uneducated on the topics in class, so if you have questions she just replies with a whole lot of nothing. There isn't homework but if you want to do any good you HAVE to read the textbook. The class average was literally a 50% on the first exam and she refused to curve it or take any sort of responsibility. She wrote an extremely passive aggressive email basically belittling the entire class. Anyone that questioned the exam (for example someone asked why she is keeping a question on the exam if only 16% of the class got it right) she just said it was our fault. She avoided any type of responsibility and will not be of much help. I took this class with Jason Clark originally, but dropped. He isn't the best professor either, he does not release exams so you know what you got wrong. She does release the exams, but it isn't helpful when everyone got the question wrong and she can't explain anything. Taking this class with her is literally you teaching yourself topics but they are unnecessarily confusing. I have taken bio stats here and did extremely well. This class is just unnecessarily difficult and you will be better off with a different professor.
Her class was overly difficult for a prerequisite. Because of this class, I had to change my major. Her lectures are chaotic, and she expects you to fill in the blanks. Because this is a statistics class, be prepared for her to speak to you as if you are an expert rather than a novice. She blames the students and ignores the fact that she does not prepare us for the tests. She has a rounding rule that applies to every step of the process, and if it is not followed, she will deduct a large number of points. Overall, I have to say that this class made me reconsider a career in psychology.
