This is one of my favorite classes I've taken at UVA. The lectures are so engaging and the Hitchcock is so engaging. I was very interested in how the U.S. talks about the Cold War versus how other countries in the world reflect on the war. This course presents both of these perspectives in a digestible way. This course had 4 quizzes (taken in discussion sections), a midterm essay exam in class, and a final paper. The final paper was very open-ended, and we were given the liberty to write virtually anything about the Cold War. I'm a history major, but I took this class with people that weren't and we all found it equally interesting. If you can get Cleo Boyd as a TA, she's awesome!
