This is a fantastic course that I'd highly recommend to anyone looking to fill a writing requirement or just take an enjoyable, easy class. Dr. Nabi is so supportive of his students and clearly cares about this course. Everything he discusses is well-researched and it is apparent that he prepares extensively for every class. Public speaking can be somewhat intimidating for some people, and Dr. Nabi did an incredible job of making sure everyone felt comfortable speaking in front of the class. The welcoming, fun, supportive environment that he creates is felt within and outside of the classroom.

In terms of the course itself, it is set up with a handful of speeches ranging from informative to persuasive; some are recited from a manuscript, some from bullet points on a notecard, some with slides, and so on. The grading for these speeches seems relatively easy and definitely fair; I finished with an A in the course without too much effort although that may be due to my pre-existing familiarity with the subject area. Dr. Nabi gives great feedback on every speech, from content to style. After each speech, we had to watch a recording of ourselves and evaluate what we did well and how we could improve. There are a handful of readings that don't take too much time; most of the work centers on writing speeches. 10/10 class, 11/10 professor!
