Really loved this class! This is the first class I've taken at UVA that had really engaging readings and made me feel as though I learned A LOT and grew from taking this class. Prof. Aidan is really nice and helpful - talking to her in office hours really helps. The class only meets once a week so the class is longer. Sometimes readings are really dense and sometimes not. We had to turn in a disussion 1-pager every class. Overall, really rewarding course.
Incredibly interesting class. I would highly recommend for anyone vaguely interested in anthropology, ethics, health, politics, policy, and more. The readings for this class are certainly dense and almost all political theory, but you'll get a lot out of them. There was usually 1 assignment a week - either a multipage reading response or a discussion post - due before class. One midterm paper, and one final paper, The rest of your grade is based on participation and attendance. Professor Seale-Feldman is really kind and accommodating - she made changes to the deadlines for the semester in order to make things a little easier with COVID. She really knows and cares about this subject and makes tackling political theory - especially for someone with little to no experience with it - a lot easier. The 2.5 hour lecture was a bit exhausting, especially in the online format, but that's my only complaint.
