This class was interesting but it was a really strange topic. The professor was a very good lecturer, but the class was easy to skip. The class has readings that aren't necessary to do to get a decent grade. In addition, you have discussion posts that are graded for completion based on the readings and a discussion post where you write your thoughts on a topic. There are 3 short essays in the class that are fairly graded based on the TA that you have. Overall, I really recommend this class and it was a good class if you need an easy class to take.
Super interesting class!!! It seems like a lot of reading at first but you definitely don't have to do all of it. There's a reading response due before each class but you can just read like 5 pages of the reading and then use that for the reading response. There's also a weekly discussion post due on Saturday that's usually 300-500 words based on the readings and lectures but it's a completion grade (so are the reading responses) so you just have to get it done. Most of the writing comes from 3 essays (1400-1700) words but you can pretty much pick the topic you want to write about, so they can actually be pretty interesting!! The topics include stuff like how our perceptions of religion/ethics change our view of the environment and the ethics of climate change. Also attendance is required but if you have to miss a lecture you can write a 2 page outline of the recording instead and send it to your TA, which is pretty easy. Grading: 40% based on completion of reading responses/discussion posts/attendance (should be an easy 100%), 10% for the first essay, 25% for the second essay, 25% for the third essay. Also there's no final exam just a final paper but you can definitely do it ahead of time and it's just like the other essays. Overall a very easy second writing requirement!!!
