I took this in the fall of 2024 and could not recommend this class more! Professor Edwards is so nice and really made an effort to create a classroom where everyone felt comfortable speaking up, even if your opinion went against the more popular belief. He also respected the fact that some people either preferred not to or didn't feel comfortable speaking up and wouldn't dock participation points for choosing not to speak or force people to give answers. He also made an effort to get to know us personally, by requiring us to go to "office hours" for 20 minutes, which was really just a quick meeting where you could talk about whatever you wanted with him. Overall, the class was really simple. There were short readings to do before class, but you could easily get away without doing them. The only homework was 3-4 journal entries that we did in class and a final group project which was a pain to figure out a time to meet to film it but relatively simple and easy to complete - these were all due by the end of the semester. This was such an interesting class where we discussed different issues surrounding religion in government and the public square. I really enjoyed getting to hear all the different perspectives that people offered and taking part in the in-class debates.
