Class was misleading. I joined it because I thought the class was about demons and possession of people. If you are interested in archaeology this might be a fun class but most of it was purely very long readings about information that wasn't interesting. There is a writing assignment every Sunday and Thursday that are just very repetitive responses to the things you read. I did not enjoy this class and warn anyone who is going to take it to reevaluate whether or not you truly want to do this. It was fun because there were cool people in it but all in all not a great experience.
The content covered in this class was pretty interesting to me (focussed primarily on archaeology), but many of my classmates found it to be a boring class. The class itself was much more work than any other engagement I have taken, but the workload was manageable. Generally, we would be assigned weekly readings and discussion posts. This class and its breakdown was much more like high school- where you would have a lot of smaller assignments, rather than just a few big ones. Prof. Phillips was very knowledgeable, but her grading was super arbitrary- she would take points off randomly which was pretty frustrating. The class was structured around group discussion, which was tough to manage for anything more than 10 minutes- most classes we would have 30-40 minute discussions with very little guidance. Overall, I would only recommend this class if you are super interested in archaeology because otherwise it can be kind of dry and frustrating.
