This class is interesting and pretty easy. Most of our grade was these short reflections about class that we wrote. The readings assigned for each class period though do take about an hour but you can get away with skimming them or doing half of it. The professor is very nice and very lenient with deadlines, especially near the end of the semester. She genuinely cares about her students.
This class focused on the topic 'Who was Cleopatra?' I really, really enjoyed taking this class. Prof. Teets is very knowledgeable in this focus, and as a classist herself knows a lot about history. The topics also broadened out to topics like racism in both past and modern society, which I really liked. We only met up on Wednesdays for discussion, and had breakout group session to discuss the reading. The readings are very long, and the language is slightly difficult to read. It did take me a few hours to read them because I had to keep re-reading. Another 'easy A' class because Teets cares more about what you're learning rather than focusing on grades. With each week we had a weekly reflection assignment, lecture reflection (from the pre-recorded lecture), and a materials response (from the required readings). All of them can be knocked out very easily. Teets is very understanding and lenient of submissions. There was a final group project which was slightly difficult but manageable. #tCFspring2021
I highly recommend Who was Cleopatra. Science is not my strongest area, so I wasn't looking forward as much to the Empirical and Scientific Engagement but this class was great. It focused more on the history of Cleopatra's life and also how history itself is studied. It is an easy A if you do the weekly assignments and put effort into the final project. Dr. Teets is a great professor and is very knowledgeable about this subject. This was a really great class and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a more historical Empirical Engagement. #tCF2020
