Professor Wellmon made the course "On the Goods and Uses of the University" highly engaging (ha, pun intended) and actually fun (especially for a STEM major taking a Finance class)! He would frequently ask us for our personal opinions on the readings, get philosophical, share funny stories and then somehow segue them back to the material, and make us do activities in class that really took the material outside the box (examples including in-class debates, acting as members of the board of scholars at uva, taking polls of classmates, and discussing Professor Wellmon's 6-year old son's daily antics). Projects were sometimes challenging, but if you and your group members get along and split the work evenly it's low-stress. I will say that I had the opportunity to take this class in person during COVID, which definitely made it one of my favorite classes merely for the fact that I actually got to see people outside of a screen. Highly recommend any of his classes- I think he makes an effort to actually know your name and get you to talk to the other people in the class.
