Professor Robey was amazing! Some of the other reviews will tell you that the lectures are dry but I disagree. Most people did not participate in class discussions or answer his questions. I did my best to and it changed my experience in this course. He is truly passionate about the course and has some great stories about his work in the field. There were two midterms, one final, as well as one paper. All of the tests are open book and open note. There were a few questions that I did not know but it is incredibly easy to do well on the midterm which boosts your grade. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a fun and easy class regardless of your major. I am not in the major nor am I planning on going into it. I would gladly take another one of his classes though!
I took this course because of the incredibly high GPA. Plus, I was interested in learning more about communication disorders. It was definitely one of the easiest courses I have ever taken in my life. I never did any work outside of class, and I got an A+. Unfortunately, Robey was such a slow talker and his lectures were SO dry. I realized late into the semester that it is better to rewatch the lectures at 2x speed. When I went to lecture, there were only about 18 people and no one ever answered his questions. We often sat in silence until he told us the answer. It was a bit of a disappointing course, so I wouldn't recommend it for people outside of the major (like myself).
I took this class because it was recommended if you are interested in the speech communication disorders major. RR had prerecorded lectures and just asked questions during class time, so we always ended early. Pretty straightforward class. 4 tests, all open notes, and a term paper on a person in the media with a communication disorder which was actually pretty easy. He wanted us to have fun with it. He said the tests were not meant to trick but I would over think some questions, so just ready carefully and take your time. There is also a a strange point grading system which didn't make much sense to me, but the class was still easy. You probably don't have to watch every lecture because he gives you the PP notes. He truly wanted this class to be low stress for us, he even switched down to meeting one day a week since we were already watching lectures. He has been in the field for a long time and has lots of stories and information to share. He would make sure out tests were due when we had the least bit going on with other classes too. The final project was graded pretty easily which solidified my A. I recommend this for anyone interested in SCD, disabilities, and even pre-health students. #tCF2020
I took this class because I am interested in pursuing speech communication as a major and other reviews said it was decently easy. I found it challenging with the pre-recorded lectures to keep on top of things, I fell quite behind. In addition, the professor expresses that he will NOT give trick questions, but a couple of questions on quizzes I found to not be completely fair. The class is split between three assignments, the average of the first three quizzes, the fourth quiz, and a paper. He also has an interesting grading style, which in my opinion, is more harmful than helpful. If you are interested in this major or profession, take the class, but I wouldn't recommend it as a random class.

Dr. Robey is a great guy, but his lectures can be a bit dry. There are 4 exams on the 4 modules you learn; however module 4 is the longest so the other 3 are averaged together into your final grade and the 4th module is it's own grade. All exams are open notes, but some questions can be a bit hard to find. Some people never went to his class and just looked at the PowerPoints, but I knew if I didn't go I wouldn't keep up with it. There is a book that I bought, but I never read it and there is one term paper at the end on a movie you watch dealing with a speech disorder. This is a requirement for the communication science disorder major and was my first class I took in that field that made me very excited to continue with this major. Pretty easy A as long as you do well on the exams because there are not many grades that go into your overall final grade
