I took Gender and Sexuality in South Asian Cinema, which is a 2.5 hour class, and I took it online. Professor Patel is very chill and seems to really care about her students reflecting and thinking about how and why they think and learn. Although I didn't really have a background in SA, the topics discussed and the readings & films were pretty interesting overall. With the class being online, sometimes we would meet for the whole time, which could be somewhat hard to stay attentive. However, many times we only met for 1.5 hours, because we would watch Made in Heaven (the TV show we would normally watch in-person) before class on our own time. There is a bit of reading and watching, and you have to take good notes, which will help save you time on the midterm and final portfolio. You are also placed in a group for the whole semester, and you all submit weekly collective notes, which can be good or not so good, depending on your group. Overall, I would recommend this class if you are looking for something chill and interesting. #tCF2020
