This class is fine. The material is pretty interesting (group theory, ring theory, etc) but I've had more enjoyable math classes. It's also a TON of work, I typically spent ~8 hours/week on the homework and probably averaged somewhere around 70%. Professor Abramenko communicates the concepts pretty well, but he can be hard to interact with sometimes and he's not the most engaging.
The homework could get doubly frustrating at times because I would spend hours trying to solve each HW problem and not actually solve any of them, going home at 1am feeling defeated. It's also tough because only 3 of the 7 problems each week is graded, so sometimes your grade does not accurately reflect how well you did (can be in your favor or against you, so it generally works out in the end, but still quite frustrating).
Heads up, you NEED to attend lectures since that's the only way you can get the material (he will sometimes reference numberings from class in the HW writeups and assume you have it written down), and you need to turn in HW in person.
