This was a great class taught by a great professor. Each week, a pair of students spends both class periods presenting a primary research article that they found in relation to a biological therapy of cancer of their choosing. The class works through the figures and discusses as we work through it with the presenters. You learn about some super interesting topics being researched around the world. Dr. Kittlesen does a great job of mediating the discussions and help push us towards important questions. There is also a pre-class assignment each week to demonstrate learning, and a final project that is very flexible in topic and format. No complaints about this class-- it's not necessarily easy because of the content you have to work through, but it certainly isn't going to add any extra stress to your semester. You won't regret taking it! #tCFS24
I would definitely recommend this course! You work in pairs to select and present on some of the most up-to-date research papers on immunological therapies of cancer. Everyone in the class is expected to read the paper before meeting, and answer a short-essay question (half a page) on Collab regarding the study and your interpretations. As far as I'm aware, if you put effort into it you get total credit. The information can be dense, but Dave really emphasizes that he is looking for effort in this course; I really don't know how someone could get less than an A since it's participation based and collaborative. Dave Kittlesen is a great professor and it really shows in this course.
