ANTH 3325

Capitalism and Culture is likely the most straightforward Anthropology course I've taken (I'm an Anthro major), and Professor Weston is a terrific teacher for the course. While weekly readings are definitely tedious, and sometimes a little off-topic, Weston's lectures are well-structured and clarify any possible confusion about the material students may have. There are only three grading criteria for the course -a midterm, a twenty page film project, and a final- so there is little margin for error. That said, the exams are incredibly easy and Weston is a generous grader: I got a 100 on the midterm and paper and coasted through the final to a high A. Ultimately, however, if you decide to take this class it shouldn't be because of the lenient grading, it should be because you have a keen interest in the business/economic world and want to see how culture impacts it and how it impacts culture. This class is a fairly easy A, but it could very well frustrate students with little interest in the coursework.
