STAT 4170

Professor Keenan is hands down one of the smartest professors in the Statistics Department here. That being said, this class is the WORST. You will likely get a good grade, but if you have any desire at all to learn anything about time series you will take 5170 instead. Also, I took this class when it was called STAT 3559 but I see they've made this into a regularly-offered course (big mistake!!!). During lectures, Keenan just babbles on for an hour and 15 minutes. You will not understand a word he says. The homework assignments are doable, but the tests are near impossible and will give you a lot of anxiety. If you want to take a better Keenan class, you should take 5559.

Keenan is the worst professor I've had at UVA. Other comments say the same things and they are right, Lectures are entirely useless. Tests are brutal, if softly graded. The final project is on new material using new software with about 3 sentences of guidance. Horrible, horrible class. STAT department should find a new teacher or cancel it.
