Chen is a king - love him. Super sweet man. Has a little bit of an accent but works really hard to make sure everyone understands him. The material is not that bad although sometimes you don't really feel like you learned anything
Lectures: you kind of have to go to lecture because he does attendance questions almost every class. You have 5 excused absences so it's not too bad but you do have to go. If you do miss, it's recorded and he basically just goes over the slides.
Homeworks: One homework a week. They don't take too long and work pretty well in coordination with the lecture material. If you have any questions, he is super helpful during is OH and I've heard the TAs OH are pretty good as well.
Exams: There are 3 exams throughout the semester. They are all take home, open note and timed (2 hours long). They are somewhat difficult but not that bad especially if you have been listening in class and have the other homeworks open to refer to.
Project: You have a final project at the end of the class. For the project, you have to find a dataset (about anything) and analyze it in some way. Totally up to you. You have turn in an outline for what you plan to analyze, create a little poster to show the class that gives a overview of your analyses, then create a pretty large report that thoroughly explains your various analyses. Probably the most time consuming part of the class.
