This is the perfect course for students who have been exposed to some calculus in high school but may not have been fully grasped it for what ever reason. If you don't think you need a whole year of calc 1 but don't feel ready for calc 2, this is the course for you. The placement test for this class is just pre-calculus concepts so make sure you have those down really well (trig, functions, logs, etc.) They also suggested this course for students who took IB SL math. Professor Fulgham was an amazing professor for this class. Don't mind the other reviews of him, those students probably did not spend time with him at office hours. During class, he explains things pretty well, but skim the textbook section before class just to make sure you are prepared. He tries really hard to be available and is very helpful during office hours, so go there often. If your workload is becoming overwhelming, just tell him and he'll usually give you some more time on an assignment. Since the purpose of this course is to get through calc 1, 2, and 3 is 2 semesters, the layout is a little different from other courses. The first 2 months of the course is calc 1 and the rest of the course is calc 2. The way this course manages to squeeze calc 2 into this time frame is by removing some niche topics and moving some topics such as arclength, hydro-static force, and parametric calculus to the beginning of the second course in the series; CORE 2. Overall the course pace did not feel rushed or overwhelming.
tl;dr Course is great if you have some calc 1 experience but not didn't learn it well. Professor Fulgham is great and super helpful at office hours. The course does not feel too fast (if you have a solid pre calc foundation).
